Larimar - Atlantis Stone
Larimar is the legendary, blue stone connected to Atlantis. This rare and unique stone is only found in one country in the world, the Dominican Republic. Its unique blue color gives it a special place in jewelry. In lithotherapy, this blue stone is useful to balance energy weaknesses. Larimar is the most wanted pectolite in the world. It was discovered in 1916, in the Dominican Republic, by Father Domingo Fuertes de Loren. Moreover, the larimar is the stone of the Atlanteans. Plato mentionned the legend of Atlantis, a mythical continent of which we do not know where it was located. Larimar is the result of long and complex volcanic phenomena. The name comes from the association of the firstname Larissa and Mar (Sea). An inhabitant of the Chupaderos village, called Miguel Mendez, was so amazed by the beauty and the reflection of the magnificent stone that he found at the bottom of a river and named it after his beautiful daughter Larissa and the beauty of the turquoise color of the sea.
